The Virtual Cryptography Service Provider (VCSP) facilitates local access to the remote certificates managed by the Remote Signing Service (RSS). This arrangement allows applications on your computer to use these remote certificates as though they were stored locally. Among the key advantages of using the VCSP are its ease of use and the centralization of processes. Ease of use is evident as signature operations mimic the handling of locally stored certificates within the Windows environment, enabling users to interact smoothly through the VCSP interface without needing direct access to the Remote Signing Service.
VCSP centralizes all processes related to certificate use, enhancing overall management and security. Within the VCSP, users experience a streamlined process for certificate management where, upon logging in, the system automatically retrieves the user’s certificates from the server. Authentication is another critical process; after signing a document, users must approve the signature via a push notification on their mobile devices, utilizing the Signer Interaction Component (SIC) for secure and efficient identity verification. Additionally, the auditing process allows administrators to monitor user activities through the dedicated web manager after signatures are made using the ThrivoSign Remote Signing Service, thereby bolstering security oversight.
